About

I am a dance artist, a freelancing academic, and a movement storyteller. I specialize in intergenerational and community work. I teach a variety of collegiate dance courses throughout the greater Phoenix area. Additionally, I have taught various residencies throughout the continental U.S.A.. In addition to teaching dance, yoga and pilates, I have also supervised and mentored student teachers.

I am the founding director of C3 Dance, teaching dance as a means of expression for all people and host annual dance festivals in collaboration with Dance and the Child International (daCi). Additionally, I serve on the national board for daCi USA. Through my dance company, SM2Dance, I work to address complex issues from a distinctly feminine, feminist perspective.

I have performed with many renowned artists and choreographers. I prefer interdisciplinary work to limiting myself to the dance community and recently worked with Texas A&M AgriLife on a project (melding of dance, lecture, video games etc.) to help middle school children understand photosynthesis intimately.
I earned my MFA in Dance from Arizona State University and two BFA degrees, in Dance and Art History, at Brigham Young University. Though I have been awarded a variety of accolades, scholarships and grants throughout my career, the most important title I hold is “mamma” to my exceptional, young children. My role as a mother directly shapes how I view the world, how I teach and how I work as an artist.

I am a jack of all trades, but a master of none — I do and love too many things to be a master of one skill, but I am pretty good at a lot of things. I am part Italian; I go by all my names; I cannot talk without moving at least my hands. My favorite things to do besides teach, make dances, and be with my family are: refinishing old furniture, home renovation, surfing, paddle boarding, running, practicing Yoga, hiking, swimming, cleaning, organizing and cooking good food made with love. If there is one thing I hate, it’s laundry; I am also not a fan of messes. I love animals-mostly sheep, goats, cows, chickens, horses… elephants and giraffes. Someday, I will live on a farm and there will be a big barn that I rent out for events, but mostly I will teach yoga, practice magic and have dance performances in said barn.
