Body Positivity

I am a dancer. I always have been and always will be. This means, sometimes when I dance, my body is a very pregnant body (pictured here at 32 weeks gestation). I have spent way too much of my life at war with my beautiful, strong body. It’s a war I don’t believe in. It is a war I was thrown into without the proper armor or weaponry. Decades in, I am defecting. I am trying hard to walk away forever-for me, because that is enough reason, but also so I can be an example of a survivor for others. I am proud of my body and what it can do-no matter what shape it is and no matter how big or small. My body is amazing, even perfect (and not just because my body creates tiny humans-my body is enough with or without the use of said superpower). My body is my most prized possession-may I ever treat it as such.

Hi, I'm Sara

I am a dance artist, a freelancing academic, and a movement storyteller. My role as a mother directly shapes how I view the world, how I teach and how I work as an artist. Someday, I will live on a farm and there will be a big barn where I will teach yoga, practice magic and have dance performances.
