Artist Life – Perfectly Imperfect

by | Oct 30, 2021

Recently, as I was loading up all five of my kids to head to the theatre for the 500th time this week, my three year old vomited all over me, and the car, and…

This was the second time I had been vomited on that day AND the second child to vomit on me in less than 24 hours.
I calmly asked her older sister to grab an other vomit bucket, while I changed my clothes, because we were now going to be late for our meeting and “the show must go on.”

That same night, were in tech and dress rehearsals and no one left the theatre until after midnight.

This is artist life. It is messy and it never goes down exactly how you plan, but sometimes, the product is exactly what it needs to be, perhaps even perfect. This is how I feel about my dance, BIRTH! – it is perfectly imperfect.

Hi, I'm Sara

I am a dance artist, a freelancing academic, and a movement storyteller. My role as a mother directly shapes how I view the world, how I teach and how I work as an artist. Someday, I will live on a farm and there will be a big barn where I will teach yoga, practice magic and have dance performances.
